Nobel Literature Prize 2021: Abdulrazak Gurnah on the moment he found out he won

The winner of this 12 months’s Nobel Prize for Literature says he idea the telephone name telling him he’d gained used to be a chilly caller.

Thankfully, Tanzanian novelist Abdulrazak Gurnah used to be persuaded to not hold up.

Talking to the BBC’s Ros Atkins, he says he used to be creating a cup of tea when the telephone rang, telling the caller: “Come on, get out of right here! Depart me by myself.”
