Nobel Prize in literature awarded to Abdulrazak Gurnah

Anders Olsson, the chair of the Nobel Committee, informed journalists in Stockholm, that the committee have been following Gurnah’s paintings for many years. “Gurnah’s itinerant characters in England or at the African continent to find themselves within the gulf between cultures, between the lifestyles left in the back of and the lifestyles to return,” Olsson stated, “confronting racism and prejudice, but additionally compelling themselves to silence the reality or reinventing a biography to keep away from war with fact.”
