Philippines: Environmentalists criticise artificial beach in Manila Bay

A synthetic seaside within the Philippine capital, Manila is inflicting controversy with some environmentalists arguing it’s dangerous for the surroundings.

The ”Manila Bay Sands” mission is a part of a much wider $20m executive plan to scrub up Manila Bay.

The white sand is produced from beaten dolomite rock which is extracted from huge dolomite mines.

The Kalikasan Surroundings Crew says the mining operations are harmful and the substitute sand can hurt marine existence.

In spite of this, hundreds of Manila’s citizens had been flocking to the seaside to catch a glimpse of town’s freshest new speaking level.
